Paedophile Posed As A Teenage Girl To Collect Images Of Children
The construction worker managed to target 5,000 kids before he was caught.
In July 2017, the US body NCMEC notified the UK’s National Crime Agency that 20 boys between the ages of 12 and 15 had sent indecent images of themselves to an account that seemed to belong to a 13-year-old girl.
However, the account owner was not a 13-year-old girl; it was a 36-year-old male roofing contractor. He was a paedophile who was conning hundreds of children into sending photos and then blackmailing them with those photos to get them to send more and worse.
The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) has the remit to investigate serious and organised crime across the UK and liaise with individual Police Forces, somewhat analogous to the FBI. The NCMEC is the US National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. Facebook and other social media companies send reports on the relevant internet traffic to NCMEC. Where appropriate, NCMEC will send those on to agencies in the other counties, such as the UK’s NCA.
